Home Design Trends for your Loudoun County Home: Part 2, The Master En Suit

Time to return to home designs for your Loudoun County Home. Let’s do it. Let’s talk about the master En Suit.

En Suite: Used to describe a bedroom to which a bathroom is directly connected or a bathroom that is directly connected to a bedroom. –http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/en%20suite

The Master En Suite is a must have for any Loudoun County Home. The convenience of having a Master Bath directly connected to your Master Bedroom cannot be understated. It is a virtual staple of Loudoun living. Whether in a town home, condominium or home, the Master En Suite is a must. Many builders are actually dropping the term “Master,’ and replacing it with “Owner,” as in an “Owner En Suite.” But whatever you call it, having one is simply fabulous!

If you already a Master En Suit, you may be thinking about a Master En Suite Renovation. If you are, JDS Construction LLC of Leesburg has the experience and know-how to turn your Master En Suite into your own private paradise. Perhaps you would like to upgrade the brass hardware and square, ubiquitous, white tile to a glass or stone tile, and pull up those plush carpets in your Master Bedroom and replace them with the warmth of hardwood floors? Whatever your decorative desires we have the expertise to get the job done.

Let’s start in the Master Bath…

The Master Bath:

Aside from a kitchen renovation a master bath renovation is the best investment you can make in your home. Click here for more information on successful home renovation projects. Not only will you get the best proverbial bang for your buck, a newly remodeled master bath will make your whole home feel new. Why? Think of all the time you spend in your bathroom. Today’s Master Bath’s can provide more luxury, functionality and beauty than ever before. From complete ‘wet rooms,’ or areas of the bathroom that specifically house both shower and tub, to smart TV’s in a mirror, to bidets, The Master Bath is finally earning its title.

So what’s trending in Master Bath’s in Loudoun County and Beyond?

The Double Vanity:

This has become a must. With today’s busy families, and everyone on the move, a double vanity is the only way to get the morning going on time. And having two separate spaces makes everyone breathe easier. If space permits, double vanities need not even share the same countertop, but can be placed in different places in the Master Bath. Of course, no vanity is complete without its own cabinets and drawers. Consider minimalistic cabinetry for a contemporary look or try another popular look we are seeing at JDS Construction LLC, and find your favorite piece of furniture and have it transformed into a vanity.

The Powder Room:

Nothing makes getting ready for work or bed easier than the separate powder room. Let’s face it, everyone needs some alone time. Typically, a powder room houses a toilet and perhaps some extra cabinetry. Want to take it to the next level? Consider a heated toilet seat or separate bidet. And if you prefer a more open flow to your bathroom you can’t beat a half glass-block or frosted glass wall to partition off the powder room.

The Curbless Shower:

Is there any other kind anymore? Say good-bye to those chunky brass or silver framed showers and hello to one seamless shower door. And what’s inside? Whatever you want. Think double shower heads with multiple jets and steam functions.

Want to really set the mood? Then go “Smart,” in your bathroom:

• Menu Based Control Shower Panel: Have a Kohler DTV installed to personalize your shower experience. The menu based panel controls water temperature, lighting, steam and even music. Separate presets can be saved to accommodate multiple users. This is the epitome of the Smart Bathroom.
• The Smart TV:

Smart TV’s host any app that can be uploaded to your smart phone, can sync with your smart phone and do not even require a cable box to watch Netflix or YouTube or your favorite On The Go Channel Apps. Place one on the wall above your soaking tub and binge watch your favorite series in a bubbly bath. On the go? Place a hidden TV in your bathroom mirror. When off, the TV appears as a mirror and remains completely hidden. And it can be customized to appear in only part of your bathroom mirror so you can get ready and get going on the day’s events, simultaneously.

Tile:

Tile has taken center stage in the shower. Whether glass tile with pebble rock floor or hexagon tiles with glass tile floor you can’t go wrong with the look and functionality of tile. Subway tile remains a favorite for Loudoun County Homeowners, as does tumbled marble. Make a statement with a bold tile design on your shower floor, or add a splash of royal blue for some whimsy.

The Soaking Tub:

Forget the sunk-in “Jacuzzi,” tubs of the past. The new look is a stand-alone soaking tub. And the plumbing isn’t relegated to just inside the tub. Have it plumbed outside of the tub and relax your head or feet on a smooth surface. The soaking tub can accommodate any style; simplistic and streamlined works well with a contemporary style. Not your thing? You can’t beat the timeless appeal of a ball and claw inspired tub for a classic look. Today’s soaking tubs are also offered in two-tones, typically one color on the outside and white on the inside. In a neutral palette bathroom a navy blue or coco brown can really make a statement.

Bathroom Flooring:

Sure there are a ton of options: ceramic tile, stone, wood, bamboo, concrete…but you just can’t beat stone for durability, easy cleaning and pizzazz! And the best part is that stone flooring comes in a myriad of styles and materials: limestone, marble, granite and porcelain. Want to get the look of hardwood without the worry of water damage? There’s a stone flooring for that. Our clients, at JDS Construction, want porcelain flooring because it looks like wood but is more durable and easier to maintain.

Want the ultimate in luxury? Nothing is more delightful than warm tile floor on a cold winter’s morning. Consider installing radiant heat under your floors and do your cold, winter feet a favor. Clients of JDS Construction LLC absolutely rave about their decision to go one “step,” further to have radiant heat flooring installed. See what our clients have to say here.

The Master Bathroom Sink:

There are probably more types of sinks than you may have considered: the most popular and easiest to keep clean is the undermount sink. This sink works with any style and can be easily placed in a vanity. A self-rimming sink is the easiest to have installed and can be placed on existing countertop without destroying their integrity. Vessel sinks are widely used in contemporary or modern Master Baths. Imagine a glass basin colored in a pale green or rose set atop a concrete countertop and you get the idea. A vanity or double vanity sink is a sink that is placed into cabinetry or a piece of furniture and can be used with an undermount sink (the most popular for Master Baths) or with a self-rimming sink). Pedestal wand wall mounted sinks are best when space is limited.

Bathroom Cabinets:

A big trend now is open cabinets. Why? Because it flows so nicely with the “open concept,” of Loudoun County Homes. Keep the doors on your upper cabinets and leave some open shelving below, place rolled towels or your favorite bath salts and scrubs for easy access and aesthetics. What color? Whatever color you want. White is always a classic and makes any Master Bath roomier. At JDS Construction LLC, of Leesburg we are seeing an increased demand for cabinets in shades of grey. Despite grey being the latest trend home designers predict that grey cabinets will be around for the long haul. Wood tones are always fashionable and warm any room, including the Master Bath. Deep mahoganies or lighter shades such as ash are trending but not the honey tones of the late 90’s or early 2000’s. A good design tip is to have the colors in your Master Bath flow seamlessly into your Master Bedroom, therefore creating a cohesive color palette for your Master En Suit.
