But stick to a monochromatic palette to avoid a “too busy,” look. And if you like color, go for it. Try a deep red or Amber but limit it to one accent shade to keep things fresh and modern.

Natural Elements: Utilize not just natural elements like stone and wood but also the natural space outside of your bathroom to create a serene and relaxing space. Add a picture window over a soaking tub and bring the outdoors inside.

Everything is Bigger and More Open: Openness and depth create a sense of well-being and serenity. Think big, deep, stand-alone soaking tubs, open showers with half walls—the bigger the better, and of course the ultimate in the wide-open shower, the double shower.

Grey is in and White is Out: White-white is for the bathroom of yesterday. Add in some moody colors to keep your bathroom fresh and modern. Grey bathroom cabinets is the hottest design trend in 2015 and it comes in many shades.

Bring your Design Style into your Bathroom: The bathroom is not just a separate entity anymore. Integrate it into your home. Add a settee or big, comfy chair to claim the bathroom as your domain.

Lights, Camera, Action: Consider media when thinking about today’s bathrooms: televisions in the mirrors, music in the shower and accent lighting everywhere. Did we mention today’s bathrooms have gone sci-fi? Call it a mood ring for your bathroom. And if you’re feeling really bold try LED lights that change color. Think Miami Beach and a straight up martini.
